Leonardo DiCaprio Launches Tiger Charity

Leonardo DiCaprio, being one of the greenest celebrities out there, has a new project he's been working on. He's teamed up with the World Wildlife Fund to start a charitable organization to help protect wild tigers. This project, called Save Tigers Now, has two goals: to raise $20 million, and have the tiger population doubled by 2022.


Leo has been spending time in Asia to learn more about the endangered species. He says, “Tigers are endangered and critical to some of the world’s most important ecosystems. Key conservation efforts can save the tiger species from extinction, protect some of the planet’s last wild habitats and help sustain the local communities surrounding them.”

He says, “At first I hated the way I was turned into a pretty boy, as if that was all that was expected of me. It made me almost want to stop acting for a while because the attention that was focused on me was not where I wanted to take my career. I didn’t want to do romantic films or anything which just exploited my image or appearance. I also kind of had to be more careful about the friends I was hanging out with. I was living a pretty big life for a while and then that just gets tiresome.”
